Lawrence Police Find Man Fatally Wounded Suffering From A Gunshot Wound

LAWRENCE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A man is dead after a shooting in Lawrence late Friday night.

Just before midnight, Lawrence Police Department received several 911 calls about shots fired and a man who had been shot in the area of 216 Walnut Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they found one man suffering from a gunshot wound, Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker's office said in a statement.

The man was transported to Lawrence General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, officials said.

The man's name is not being released at this time pending notifying the next of kin. The shooting is being investigated by the Essex County district attorney’s office State Police Detective Unit and Lawrence Police Department detectives at this time.

No other information is known at this time.
