DERRY, New Hampshire (WBZ NewsRadio) — A local game store in Derry, New Hampshire is thanking the community for their support after falling victim to a smash-and-grab on Saturday.
At around 6 a.m., Midgard Hobbies and Games received a call from Derry Police Department, informing them their front door had been smashed in. Inside, several sealed Magic the Gathering items were stolen from a display case that had been broken into.
The owner, Jason West, posted a video on Facebook thanking Derry Police, staff, and the community for their support.
"Luckily it looks like it was a smash-and-grab. The thieves busted in the doors, they broke our magic display case, one of the doors on it, they got a handful of cards from that display case and they took a bunch of sealed magic products and ran," West said.
Game stores in the area have reached out to Midgard to try and help recover the stolen items if they make their way into the stores.

"Another thank you to all the other local game stores... they all reached out to me as soon as they saw our post basically saying hey let us know what was stolen and we will keep an eye on it and report to the police if anybody tries to trade anything in," West said.
In the video, West explained that he has seen similar things happen to other game stores and had an idea of what the thief was going for.
"I had this profile of somebody who had been casing the store and knew exactly what was there, I thought I knew exactly what was going to be missing and I could not be more wrong," he said. "It was clearly somebody, in my opinion, who knew enough about magic to know what sealed product was more expensive."
