MALDEN (WBZ NewsRadio) — The city of Malden is celebrating a local legend with a murder mystery pub crawl this summer.
Participants of the "Noir Detective Murder Mystery" will eat, drink, and solve a mystery inspired by Erle Stanley Gardner's writings and some of Malden's true mysterious history. The prolific author and Malden native was best known for the "Perry Mason" series of detective stories.
The noir detective summer pub crawl, set in the 30s, is based on the "Perry Mason" series mysteries.

"This adventure is inspired by his writings where players will come around Malden Center and visit four different restaurants and pubs and interview costume characters to deduce clues to solve the mystery of the evening," Kevin Duffy, strategy and business development officer for Malden, told WBZ's Carl Stevens.
The pub crawl will take place in Malden every other Saturday night throughout the summer. The pub crawl will be alternating weekends with the “Murder at the Malden Bank” pub crawl, inspired by "Abel Bodied: Murder at the Malden Bank" written by Michael Cloherty, another Malden native.
The “Murder at the Malden Bank” pub crawl was created a few years ago and routinely sold out last summer.
The "Noir Detective Murder Mystery" is being put on as a part of the Malden Summer Festival Program.
