SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A highway sign fell into traffic hitting one vehicle on I-93 on Friday morning in Somerville, according to Massachusetts Department of Traffic.
At around 9:30 A.M. a portion of a MassDOT highway sign came loose falling into the right lane of traffic on I-93 northbound near Sullivan Square. A 2015 Honda CRV was hit by the sign. The driver, a 25-year-old Quincy woman, was not injured in the incident, Massachusetts State Police said.

MassDot restricted travel on the two right northbound lanes in order to remove the sign.
Drivers experienced some traffic for several hours after the incident as MassDOT inspectors and engineers evaluated the sign and nearby structures.
The incident comes just over four months after MassDOT launched an investigation to review overhead signs after a sign fell into traffic on I-190 in August.
