Mattapoisett Manhunt Comes To An End, Both Suspects In Custody

MATTAPOISETT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Mattapoisett manhunt has come to an end. Mattapoisett Police have a suspect in custody after an hours-long car chase led to a search in the woods, Friday morning, according to the Mattapoisett Police Department.

Many Mattapoisett residents woke up to a reverse 911 call around 4 A.M, after one man involved in the car chase fled on foot into the woods between North Street and I-195. Town police asked residents to be on the lookout for a man wearing a black hoodie who is missing a shoe, according to WBZ's Tim Dunn.

It all began when officers approached two suspicious men on Mechanic Street who then fled in a nearby car. Mattapoisett Police and Massachusetts State Police chased the suspects until the car crashed on I-195.

After the crash, one man was taken into custody while the other ran from police into the woods. MSP Air Wing was active on the scene, surveying the woods for the suspect from the sky.

Sometime later, the second man was found leading to both suspects in custody.
