Missing Boater Found Dead After Canoe Capsized At Lake Cochituate In Natick

NATICK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The body of a missing boater was found after officials searched Lake Cochituate in Natick on Saturday night.

Natick Fire and Police Department and Massachusetts State Police recovered the missing boater's body at around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night after their canoe capsized in Fiske Pond, a sub-basin of Lake Cochituate, Massachusetts State Police said.

Massachusetts State Police Underwater Recovery Team troopers and other state rescue crews used side-scan sonar to search for the missing man around the body of water. Using the technology, divers were then able to recover the man's body, officials said.

Another man in the capsized canoe was able to make it to the shore on his own before first responders arrived.

No other information is known at this time.
