Missing Kayaker's Body Recovered From Merrimack River In Haverhill

HAVERHILL, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A missing kayaker's body was recovered in Haverhill on Sunday evening after a search team set out in the afternoon.

At around 6:30 p.m., Haverhill Firefighters found the male kayaker's body. He went missing while in the Merrimack River in Haverhill, State Police said.

The kayaker's name is not being released at this time.

The State Police Underwater Recovery Unit, Massachusetts Environmental Police, and several other local agencies began their search operation about two hours before the recovery, officials said.

State Police detectives assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office are conducting a death investigation.
