FRANCONIA, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The search for a young hiker from Westford came to an end when searchers found her body on Wednesday, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game.
Search crews found the body of Emily Sotelo around 11 A.M. on the side of Mouth Lafayette in Franconia. Crews began the search Sunday evening after she did not return home from her solo hike earlier in the day. Search crews continued searching through harsh conditions for the next two days in high winds, cold temperatures, and blowing snow, said N.H. Fish and Game.
On Tuesday afternoon, search crews found tracks and items that belonged to Sotelo near the headwaters of Lafayette Brook. After the discovery, search teams concentrated their search efforts in the area, where her body was later discovered on Wednesday, according to N.H. Fish and Game.
N.H. Fish and Game said Sotelo had intended to hike Mount Lafayette, Little Haystack Mountain and Mount Flume.
