New Bedford Fire Displaces Six Tenants In Multi-Family Home

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A New Bedford fire left six people displaced on Saturday night.

Just after 11 p.m., the New Bedford Fire Department got reports of a fire in the area of 71 Sagamore Street, fire officials said.

When officials arrived, they found a fire broke out on the third floor of a multi-family home and extended into the attic. Multiple units responded to the call and were able to extinguish the fire with multiple hose lines going into the third floor and attic, New Bedford Fire Department said.

After several hours, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire.

The displaced tenants are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

No one was injured in the fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be an accident by the NBFD Fire Investigation Unit.
