WINDHAM, New Hampshire (WBZ NewsRadio) — A New Hampshire mom is working to make other new moms' lives easier, one Mombox at a time.
Kate Westervelt, of Windham, is the founder and CEO of an online service catered to helping new moms recover after giving birth. The Mombox is full of supplies that Westervelt has researched and used herself as a mother.
"We wanted mom to feel seen and special and cared for," Kate Westervelt told WBZ's Shari Small.
Westervelt created Mombox after she gave birth to her first child and was on her way home when she realized she had gotten everything prepared for the baby, but didn't have the supplies she needed for her own recovery. Her and her husband found a limited selection of post birth recovery products at the store and had run out of time research products online. Since then, Westervelt has been creating a variety of Momboxes catered to mothers' needs.

"Moms, they didn't know what was going to happen to their bodies after they gave birth beyond maternity gowns and car seats." said Westervelt. "The emphasis was on really having those tough conversations about the products she was going to need to heal from a vaginal birth or prepare for breastfeeding."
It all began in 2016 with a standard Mombox and has since expanded to include a variety of Recovery Kits for each new moms' postnatal product needs.
"[We had the] original mom box and we had the C-section recovery [box], we expanded that to include care kits for things like energy, sleep deprivation, mood, everything that happens to mom in the full first year of mom life," Westervelt said.
In 2021, Mombox launched the first ever postnatal subscription program to get moms the supplies they need throughout the first year of motherhood.
