PRICETON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Wachusett Mountain community is grieving after one skier died in a crash and another was hospitalized in two separate incidents on Monday morning.
Just before 9:30 a.m., Wachusett Ski patrols got word that a 67-year-old man was involved in an on-mountain accident. The man was skiing down an advanced trail when he struck a tree, a spokesperson for Wachusett Mountain said. The man was discovered unresponsive by another skier passing by. Wachusett ski patrollers administered emergency care before bringing him to the bottom of the mountain where he was pronounced dead, State Police said. The man's identity is not being released at this time.
"The entire Wachusett family is grieving this tragic loss. All of our thoughts are with the skier’s family and friends," said Chris, a spokesperson for Wachusett Mountain.

Just a few hours later around 11 a.m., Princeton firefighters got reports of a 74-year-old man injured on the mountain. The man was mogul skiing when he fell and hit his head, a spokesperson from Wachusett Mountain said.
The man was transported to UMass Medical Center in Worcester. There is no word on his condition at this time.
