BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Wolf Moon will be making an appearance Friday evening, or as the wolves say, "Owooooooo."
The Wolf Moon will be visible on Friday at about 6:09 P.M. when it reaches its peak illumination.
January's full Moon is known as the Wolf Moon. Friday's full moon will be the first of 2023.

The Wolf Moon's name came to be as it was traditionally believed that packs of wolves' howls could be heard more while the full Moon was visible.
The Old Farmer's Almanac dating back to 1792, contained the names of full moons that were derived from Native Americans, Colonial Americans, and European sources, according to Almanac.com. Each full Moon name relates to the month the full Moon occurred in, not just the moon itself.
