BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) The Powerball jackpot has soared to $1.7 billion, after no one won the big prize yet again on Wednesday.

It’s now the third-largest prize in history. The winnings grew from $1.3 billion before Wednesday’s drawing, which was the fifth-largest prize in history.

Nobody has hit the jackpot since May 31, when a ticket sold in California won $204.5 million. This Powerball has set a new record for the most consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery.

This jackpot is also the largest since October 2023, when another ticket sold in California won $1.765 billion.

Even though Wednesday’s drawing had no winner, some players in Massachusetts still walked away with some serious prizes. Four tickets purchased across the state won $50,000, according to the Mass Lottery.

Powerball tickets are $2 each and can purchased until 9:50 p.m. Friday at Mass Lottery retailers before the next drawing on Saturday.
