BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The holiday season is still months away but Santa's getting an early start this year.

The United States Postal Service's Operation Santa is now accepting letters.

For the past 111 years "Operation Santa" has been giving kids the opportunity to write Santa letters.

Kids can send letters to Santa asking for what they want this year. Then on November 20th, those letters are put online for everyone to see. Those who want to help make kids' Christmas wishes come true can choose to adopt a letter and send them a gift anonymously.

Address the letter to Santa at the below address:

Santa

123 Elf Road

North Pole, 88888

There are also printable letter templates here.

The USPS Operation Santa Initiative began in 1912 creating Santa's first mailroom, giving local postmasters to ability to open up these letters and respond. It wasn't until the 1940s that the program opened up to the public.
