HAMPTON BEACH, New Hampshire (WBZ NewsRadio) — Several people were hospitalized and one man is under arrest after a multi-vehicle crash in North Hampton, New Hampshire on Saturday night.
At around 9 p.m., New Hampshire State Troopers got reports of a crash along I-95 South. When police arrived, they found four vehicles involved and multiple people injured.
A preliminary investigation suggests that a 2020 Subaru Outback, operated by Douglas McKay of Maine, was driving northbound on I-95 when he veered left and traveled across the grass median into oncoming traffic. Once on the southbound side, the Subaru struck a 2013 Honda Civic causing the two vehicles to separate from one another due to the impact and hit two other cars. A 2021 Nissan Rouge and a 2022 Mini Cooper were also traveling southbound when they were struck, police said.

New Hampshire State Police said McKay and two other people in the Honda were transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
McKay was later arrested at the hospital on criminal charges of aggravated driving under the influence of drugs or liquor, driving under the influence of drugs or liquor, reckless conduct, and vehicular assault, officials said.
Due to the number of vehicles involved in the crash, the debris scattered across the highway, and the amount of people injured, troopers closed all lanes going southbound. After a few minutes, traffic was about to be rerouted around the crash scene.
