SHARON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — One Sharon man says he is a self-proclaimed addict. His addiction? Toy soldiers.

Tom Fallon has been collecting toy soldiers for the past 70 years. His passion began when his mom gave him a box of toy soldiers when he was a child.

"It's a healthy addiction, I'd like to think, although I have met people who are saying 'toy soldiers? Haven't you ever grown up?'" Fallon told WBZ's Suzanne Sausville.

His garage is full to the brim with model soldiers from armies across the world. While he collects thousands of toy soldiers, there are some he refuses to add to the collection.

"Anybody who fought against the United States or the United Kingdom in the 20th century isn't going to have a place in my parade," Fallon said.

Fallon has soldiers honoring French, Spanish, Indian, and Irish troops in addition to hundreds of others.

"I am not a militarist, but we should still honor the people who made the sacrifice," he said.

One day he would like his collection to go to a museum or somewhere else it can be well preserved and appreciated.
