BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — In South Boston, you might not be able to find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but you might be able to find a pizza full of gold.

WBZ's Matt Shearer had to give the gold-topped pizza a try.

Bardo's, a South Boston pizzeria, is selling a specialty pizza topped with 14-karat gold flakes in honor of Saint Patrick's Day. The "pot of gold" pizza is a South Shore-style bar pizza topped with corned beef and sauerkraut.

The gold is sprinkled over the pizza after it comes out of the oven and is ready to eat.

"We're going to lace this with a little bit of gold leaf," Chef Matt Kennedy said as he scattered the flakes as if they were pepper.

Shearer decided to take his leftovers to a cash-for-gold store and give it the ultimate test.

"It tests as real gold, that's amazing," said Mike from LBC Boutique in Allston.

For those who want gold stuck in their teeth like Shearer, Bardo's is located at Castle Island Brewery in South Boston.
