NORTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Norton early Saturday morning.

At 2:33 a.m., Massachusetts State Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 495 North in Norton.

A 2004 Nissan Maxima was driving northbound when it hit the back of a 2014 Toyota RAV 4 driving ahead of it on the road near the Route 123 exit. The Nissan then went out of control, veered off the road, rolled over, and caught on fire, a preliminary investigation suggests.

After the crash, RAV4 swerved and hit a guardrail.

The 48-year-old Brockton man driving the RAV4 and his passenger, a 34-year-old Brockton man, were both transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation.
