Stoughton High School Evacuated After Being AirDropped Photos Of Explosives

STOUGHTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Students at Stoughton High School were evacuated and returned back to school on Thursday after someone AirDropped students photos of explosive devices during an assembly.

Multiple students said they received three AirDropped photos of explosive devices during an all-student assembly around 8:30 a.m., Stoughton Police and Stoughton Public Schools said.

Stoughton Police responded to the school and evacuated students and staff to O'Donnell Middle School while the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad, area K-9s, and Stoughton Fire Department completed a sweep of the building.

"After arriving on scene, police determined that the photo was a generic online image and made no specific reference to Stoughton High School," officials said.

Just before 11 a.m., police deemed the school safe and students and staff were able to return to the building.

"It is important to stress that all students and staff remained safe during this incident. SHS students and staff should be commended for the calm and orderly evacuation to the middle school. We also thank the O’Donnell Middle School community for being able to seamlessly welcome our high school students," Stoughton Police and Stoughton Public Schools said.

More than a thousand students and staff were evacuated and returned back to the high school for dismissal at 11:30 a.m.
