Study: Boston Logan Airport 2nd Worst For Delays On Labor Day Weekend

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Flying to get away for the Labor Day weekend? A new study says some airports are less reliable to take off on time for the holiday weekend... Boston Logan International Airport was high on the list.

Price4limo conducted the study, analyzing travel data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics between 2017-2021 concentrating on airport delays over Labor Day weekend.

Boston Logan International Airport ranked second, as it has had consistently delayed departing flights over Labor Day weekend for the last three years. The study found the worst performing airport on average was Newark Liberty International Airport with the most departure and arrival delays over the holiday weekend.

The study found the worst performing airline was JetBlue with an average of one in five flights being delayed on Labor Day weekend every year. JetBlue, Frontier, and Southwest had the most departure delays over the past five years.

The study looked at data from the top fifty most traveled airports in 2021 and averaged the Labor Day weekend data from 2017 to 2021. The study analyzed flight data from the Wednesday before Labor Day weekend to the Wednesday after.
