BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) — T riders are finding new ways to get around the city as some of the MBTA's newest Green Line service will be suspended starting this July in addition to other line changes.
The MBTA announced service changes for riders on the Red, Green, Orange, Kingston, Middleborough, Greenbush, and Worcester lines starting this July.
Green Line train service between Lechmere and Union Square will be suspended for 42 days from July 18 through August 28 as MassDOT does repair work on the Squires Bridge.
"They just got it around last year so it's surprising that the line they just spend 20 years trying to make already within a year they have to take it out of service for over a month, so it's very frustrating," Kate of Somerville told WBZ's Shari Small.
Kate said the service changes are causing her to have to "massively shift" her commute to work by finding other ways to get there, whether it is walking an additional 20 minutes to the Red Line or riding a Blue Bike.

Service will also be suspended on the Green Line between North Station and Government Center Station for 12 days starting on July 29th. During this time, Orange Line trains will not stop at Haymarket Station due to work on the Government Center Garage. Riders are asked to exit at North Station or State instead.
There will also be changes on the Red Line starting July 11 so MBTA workers can "perform critical rail and tie replacement work that will alleviate speed restrictions."
Shuttle buses will be replacing evening trains between JFK/UMass and North Quincy Stations starting around 8:45 p.m. on July 11 through 13 and July 20. Shuttle buses will also replace evening trains between JFK/UMass and Braintree Stations beginning at 8:45 p.m. on July 21 and during the weekend of July 22.
