Tewksbury Man Sentenced To Five Years Behind Bars For Robbing A Bank

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Tewksbury man has been sentenced to five years behind bars after pleading guilty to robbing a bank.

Nicholas O'Neil, 40, was sentenced in federal court to five years in prison and three years of supervised release for the 2020 robbery of a Santander Bank in Tewksbury.

The robber, later identified as O'Neil, handed the bank teller a demanding note and a red cloth bag just before 10 a.m. on September 22, 2020. After the teller gave him the cash, police said O'Neil left the bank and sped away in a white pickup truck.

The truck was reported to police by a customer at the bank and located a short time later.

Police then arrested O'Neil and found the red cloth bag filled with the stolen cash along with the demanding note.
