The Annual Cat-And-Owner Costume Contest Was A Perrfect Day For Cat Lovers

NATICK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It wasn't the typical cat walk one might expect. The annual Cat-and-Owner Costume Contest was held on Sunday with contents competing to win the title of cutest cat costume.

The event was held at The Verve Hotel Boston in Natick with judging by CFA Allbreed Judge and Vice President Russell Web, according to the New England Meow Outfit Inc. website. The entire event only lasted about a half an hour.

"They have to be in the costume for 30 seconds," Bob Zink, the Treasurer of New England Meow Outfit Inc. said. "[it's] easier said than done."

Cats dressed up as penguins, dinosaurs, wizards and more filled the room. WBZ's Matt Shearer got a chance to meet one fashionable feline named Octavius Caesar wearing a wizard hat.

"Last time we were at the contest I went as Galadriel and he went as Legolas from "Lord of The Rings," one cat owner told Matt Shearer. This year, her and her furry friend decided to dress as a pink flamingo. They won the title of this year’s content.

"It pays to have the cat in costume [and] have it be relaxed," Zink said. His cat was dressed as a dinosaur from "Purassic Park" at this year’s contest.

The contest celebrated the human-animal bond by having owners dress up as well as the cats in competition.
