16-Year-Old Arrested In Connection To New Bedford Homicide Investigation

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday that a 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection to a homicide Tuesday morning.

The teenager is the second person under arrest in connection to the death of 18-year-old Rayshard Normil-Jerome, of New Bedford. He has been charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, and is set to be arraigned Wednesday in New Bedford Juvenile Court.

Because he is a juvenile, the teen's identity and the facts surrounding the criminal charge are not being released.

Normil-Jerome was found 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in Clasky Common Park with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Saint Luke's Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Latrell Baskin, 21, of New Bedford was arrested on on Tuesday, and has also been charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. He is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Aug. 6 in New Bedford District Court.
