LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the deaths of two people who apparently drowned in the Merrimack River.
A fisherman discovered a male's body in the river near a park in Lowell on Saturday morning. When authorities arrived they also found the body of a female.
A statement from the Middlesex district attorney and Lowell's police superintendent said no trauma was observed on the bodies and there is no suspicion of foul play.
The office of the chief medical examiner is to determine the cause and manner of death. The names of the two people have not been released.
