Wrabel's New Single 'The Village' Is A Powerful Ode To The LGBTQ Community

Wrabel is standing up for the LGBTQ community with his new single, "The Village," and the accompanying music video, which dropped on Monday (July 31), is a powerful piece that finds a fitting spot in today's landscape.

Clocking in at four minutes, "The Village" is a moving ballad about the struggle that the community encounters when dealing with the lack of acceptance from their family or, to quote the song, from the entire village. Wrabel keeps the narrative of the Dano Cerny directed-clip in line with the track by casting August Aiden to portray a transgender high school student who is struggling with his family's lack of embrace. After taking to his art as an escape from the pain, the video star shaves his head in a moment of liberation, only to enrage his parents but find a peaceful moment of solitude as he runs outside and sees a flock of birds.

Even though "The Village" was written months before, Wraebel decided to move the release of the track up when President Donald Trump announced a ban on trans-identifying people from serving in the U.S. military. As you might have expected, he received an overwhelming reception for the bold track. "all of u sending me ur stories on twitter / insta responding to the village i see u n i am just so overwhelmed by u n ur hearts n THNK U," the 28-year-old star wrote.
