PITTSFORD, VT (WBZ-AM/24/7 News Source) – A pilot was killed Wednesday after a small plane crashed in a heavily wooded area of Pittsford, VT according to Vermont State Police.
Local police were first alerted about the crash Wednesday, but first responders were unable to locate the aircraft until early Thursday.
The victim has been identified as Norman L. Baker, 89 of Windsor MA.
The FAA said the single-engine Cessna departed from Pittsfield, MA Municipal Airport Wednesday afternoon and was scheduled to arrive in Middlebury, VT two hours later.
Baker, who was flying solo, was described as an experienced pilot.
Authorities still don’t know why the plane crashed. The NTSB is sending an investigator to assist in the investigation.
