Police Chase Lead To Arrest And Multiple Hospitalized

RAYNHAM, MA (WBZ-AM/24/7 News Source) – At least one is seriously injured after a fleeing criminal crashed in Raynham.  

Police say they tried to stop a driver on an inspection sticker violation late Tuesday morning in Easton, but the vehicle sped off leading to a chase which ended with a crash on Britton Street a few minutes later. 

Raynham Police Chief James Donovan and Easton Police Chief Gary Sullivan, announced that Raynham Police arrested Alexander Cruz, 24, of Taunton, MA following the chase and crash on multitude of charges.

They say that Cruz reached speeds of 80 mph and drove into the breakdown lane to pass other vehicles and Easton Police stopped the pursuit out of concern for safety of others as well as their own, and notified Raynham Police that Cruz was driving in the direction of their community. 

Once they located the car, Raynham Police deployed a pair of spike strips devices on the road.

Cruz drove over one of the devices and avoided the second, and a short time later he struck at least two vehicles near the intersection of Route 138 and Britton Street.

Three occupants in one of the vehicles suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

A female passenger in vehicle driven by Cruz suffered serious injuries and was taken by Med Flight to a Boston hospital. 

Cruz was also taken to an area hospital by ambulance with injuries that are not considered to be life-threatening.

He is to be arraigned in Taunton District Court on Wednesday.
