Man Jumps From 2nd Floor Of Burning Roxbury Home

ROXBURY (WBZ-AM) -- A man suffered non-life-threatening injuries after he jumped out a second-story window of his burning home Friday morning.

Boston Fire responded to the 2 1/2-story home on Gaston Street around 7:45 a.m.

Fire officials said the fire spread so quickly, one man trapped inside was forced to jump out.

"It looks like his means of egress was cut off by fire spread, and he did the best thing he could at the time, just getting out of the building," Deputy Fire Chief Andre Stallworth told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens.

He was taken from the scene by Boston EMS.

Nobody else was home at the time, but Boston Fire said a total of two adults and three children were displaced by the fire.

The chief estimated the damage to be around $300,000.

Fire investigators were on scene to try to determine the cause.
