Sexual Misconduct Claims Rocking Some Local Newsrooms

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Sexual misconduct claims are rocking some local newsrooms in Boston.

At WBUR-FM a popular host has been placed on leave after allegations are made against him.

Tom Ashbrook is the voice of the public radio show "On Point" which is syndicated nationally.

In an statement – WBUR and Boston University says Ashbrook  will be on leave until an investigation is completed.  They did not specify what the allegations were.

Also on Friday-- The Boston Globe says it's made a number of management changes to address what Managing Director Linda Henry calls a culture problem.

The Globe reports that it hired a law firm to conduct a review -- after a mid-level manager was removed for making inappropriate comments to a coworker earlier this year.

Henry says the newsroom had become a "boys club" -- and that they have now implemented a number of changes including new training -- and creating a more proactive human resource office.
