BOSTON (WBZ-AM/24/7 News Source) -- Red Sox pitcher Steven Wright is facing charges of domestic assault.
Multiple reports say he got into a dispute with his wife, Sharon, at their home in Tennessee Friday.
According to Sharon Puckett, spokesperson with the Williamson County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee, Wright was arrested an charged with assault, domestic related and preventing a 9-1-1 call to be made.
He was released on $2,500 per charge and is scheduled to appear in court on December 21.
In a statement released by his lawyer, Wright's family says although he said things he deeply regrets he did not raise his hand to anyone.
The Red Sox say local police and Major League Baseball are investigating and are taking these charges very seriously.
The former all-star could face discipline under baseball's domestic violence policy.
