BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Sen. Elizabeth Warren is urging Republican leadership to seat Senator-Elect Doug Jones before the vote on the GOP tax bill.
Jones defeated Roy Moore Tuesday night in the Alabama special election to fill the seat vacated by Jeff Sessions when Sessions was appointed Attorney General.
"Republicans who control the Senate face a choice," Warren said on the Senate floor Wednesday. "Will they allow Senator-elect Doug Jones to take his seat among his colleagues before a final vote on their tax plan?"
She says such a move has precedent--in 2010, then-Senator Scott Brown was elected in the middle of the debate over the Affordable Care Act, and Democrats waited for him to take his seat before moving to a vote.
"Democrats rejected the idea of ramming through the bill before Brown could take his seat in the Senate," Warren said.
