ANDOVER, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Three swastikas found scrawled on the desk in the classroom of a Jewish teacher at Andover High School.
It's the third time in recent months that the Nazi symbol has been discovered at the school, escalating the incident to a hate crime hours before the start of the Jewish holy week of Chanukah.
Town manager Andrew Flanagan says writing the incidents off as "mere ignorance" would be saying we have to "live with hate in the community."
He says Andover is much stronger than that.
Authorities are planning a public forum on the issue with religious and civic leaders early next year.
