Man Convicted of Helping ISIS Sentenced to 28 Years

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM/AP) --  An Everett, MA man convicted of plotting to behead a conservative blogger on behalf of the Islamic State group has apologized to her.

David Wright cried as he addressed the court Tuesday before the judge sentenced him to 28 years in prison for his role in the terror group-inspired conspiracy to kill New York resident Pamela Geller, who organized a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest in Garland, Texas, in 2015.

Geller says she's disappointed the 28-year-old Wright didn't get life in prison.

Prosecutors wanted life without parole for the man who goaded his uncle into attacking police..and who conspired to behead conservative blogger Pamela Geller.

The defense said 16 years would be enough for a man, they argued, had shown himself to remorseful.

Wright offered apologies to law enforcement and Geller in his tearful statement.

He said he rejects everything ISIS represents. Geller was asked later about that apology

A  judge told David Wright on Tuesday" You are not a monster...yet you embraced a monstrous evil."
