Multi-Unit Building Destroyed By Fire in Lynn

LYNN, MA (WBZ-AM) Fire crews are responding to a 4-alarm fire at a multi-residential unit at 26 Broad Street in Lynn with several crews responding. 

According to Lynn Fire officials the first call came in at 3:45 p.m. and least one person has been seriously injured -- he expects the building to collapse to be imminent and ordered all firefighters out. 

One woman was rescued and taken to Mass General Hospital. Displaced Rresidents were being kept warm inside an MBTA bus. 

According to city assessor records the 18-unit apartment building located next to the historic historic Mary Baker Eddy House on Broad Street in 1860.

The scene has been described as massive flames spewing through the roof of the building. Snow flurries ice on the road and poor visibility from the smoke made it difficult for crews to fight the fire

No word on the initial cause of the fire.
