Woman Sues Worcester For 2011 Arrest

WORCESTER, MA (24/7 News Source) --The City of Worcester faces a lawsuit from a woman who says she was violently arrested by a plainclothes police officer when she was 14.

The woman, now 21, says the officer grabbed her by the hair smashed her into a wall at Honey Farms on Grafton Road for an alleged loitering violation.

The plaintiff identified as Melissa Montanez says she was only four-foot ten and weighed no more than 90 pounds at the time.

She's suing the detective for civil rights violations and the city for failing to train officers properly and disciplining them over use of force.
