Construction Worker Crushed To Death In Gloucester

GLOUCESTER, MA (WBZ-AM) -- State Police and OSHA are investigating an apparent tragic accident at a home construction site after a worker was found dead Thursday morning.

Essex District Attorney spokesperson Carrie Monahan says the 27-year-old-victim worked for MD MacEachern Landscape and Construction

He was using a mini-excavator to dig out part of the foundation of at a home at 23 Nashua Avenue.

“It appears he was operating some machinery and was crushed,” she said.

The home is propped up on a series of I-beams to facilitate the foundation work being done.

The man was apparently working alone when something went wrong. Officials believe something got caught on the lever, causing the victim to become pinned between the equipment and an I-beam

Monahan says the was  ound dead by a co-worker around 9:30am.

The name of the victim is being held pending notification of their family.
