BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Boston Police Department warned Patriots fans Tuesday to be careful when purchasing Super Bowl tickets, as there are counterfeits out there.
On their website, the BPD wrote that buying tickets from social media or from anything other than an official source carried a huge risk.
"Fans who purchase tickets from a second or third party source are taking a chance, therefore, we encourage fans to only buy tickets from authorized ticket agencies," the department wrote.
They also asked anyone with information about someone selling counterfeit tickets to contact the department.
"Remember, if the price of the ticket or the deal seems to good to be true, it probably is!" they said.
