MA Treasurer Launches Program To Address Gender Pay Inequality

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) – Saying that women should be paid what they are worth, Commonwealth Treasurer Deb Golberg has launched a new program to help women negotiate and address gender pay inequality in the work place,

 “Just Ask” is the first of its kind in the nation.

The program announced Wednesday at the State House will hold salary negotiation workshops be held by members of the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women and the American Association of University Women at 15 community colleges around the Commonwealth.

“It is a six state wide salary negotiation initiative, designed to serve hundreds of thousands of working women across Massachusetts with salary negotiation workshops….while the program alone will not close the wage gap, it is a very important piece of the multi-pronged solution to a eliminate in a the wage gap and address decades and I mean decades of systematic disadvantage most women face in the workplace.” Goldberg said

 Workshops are set to begin in March.
