BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) – For Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, it's important to have a strong Democratic presence in Washington.
“I've known Congressman Capuano for a long time, he's done some incredible work,” he said.
While he's praising incumbent U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano for what he's done for Boston, Walsh says there's nothing wrong with having a challenger like City Councilor Ayana Pressley.
Pressley, who has served on the city council since first taking office in 2010, plans to challenge incumbent U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano in the Democratic primary for the state's 7th Congressional District.
“I had three challenges in the mayor's race last year and I think a lot of people said to me they felt I did a good job and I think that that's the beauty of our democracy. if people want to run for office they can,” he said.
When asked whether he'll endorse a candidate says he'll give the race a little time and see what happens.
