Arrests Made At UMass Amherst After Super Bowl

AMHERST, MA (WBZ-AM)  -- Violence broke out on a University campus shortly after the New England Patriots lost against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl Sunday night.

Police arrested six people at University of Massachusetts Amherst, after crowds of 2,000 people flooded the campus and fights broke out.

Amherst Fire Department tells WBZ NewsRadio1030 that ambulances took 12 people to the hospital for head injuries, lacerations and alcohol intoxication.

Crowds were dispersed by State and Amherst, MA Police in riot gear shortly before midnight.

University Police and University officials say that they plan on pressing charges to those arrested.
