ELMORE COUNTY, ALABAMA (24/7 NewsSource/WBZ-AM) -- A man investigators say was seen in a viral video on Facebook showing the sexual assault of a child is now in an Alabama jail--a day after the Norfolk DA's office publicly warned against sharing the video.
Authorities in Alabama say 44-year-old Germaine Moore turned himself in to the Elmore County Jail early Tuesday morning.
Authorities say the Moore is also wanted on charges in Detroit.
The child pornography video which was being circulated on Facebook through it messenger platform by used asked to share it so the perpetrators could be identified.
Police in Massachusetts joined the investigation after a woman went to the Blue Hills State Police barracks over the weekend when the video was transmitted to her through Facebook messenger.
On Monday, Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey urged the public not to share the video saying sharing videos like that does far more harm than good by "potentially re-victimizing the victim," Morrissey said.
"You're really potentially re-victimizing the victim, we've seen case in the past where young kids who may have been victims of child pornography 10, 12-years ago are still out on the world wide web," he said.
