Body Found In Chelsea Brush Fire

CHELSEA (WBZ-AM) -- Chelsea and State Police are investigating after finding the body of an adult man at the site of a brush fire Thursday night, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said.

Fire officials found the body around 6:40 p.m. after extinguishing the fire, which was burning in an unpaved area off Route 16 near Webster Avenue.

The identity of the man, whose body was found badly burned, has not been determined--and investigators are still trying to determine the cause of his death.

Police found a highly-flammable mattress, cardboard debris, and a pack of cigarettes at the site of the fire, and are considering the possibility the fire resulted from an accidental ignition.

The Suffolk DA's office is asking anyone who may have been passing by the area to contact State or Chelsea Police with any information.
