Cannabis Control Commission To Discuss Policy

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Don't expect home delivery of marijuana or marijuana cafes where you could consume pot in a social setting until at least October.

The Cannabis Control Commission decided to table those issues while they work to get ready for retail sales of marijuana by July 1st.

Commission chairman Steve Hoffman says the decision could limit access to legal marijuana for a time.

"The fewer categories you have by definition, the lower your test ability is and so that is a concern," Hoffman said.

but, they are moving forward on a pace to begin accepting retail license applications in april.

"We're talking policy this week and once we make those policies this week we'll embed them in regulations and then review and vote on those regulations next Tuesday and Wednesday," he said.

Some of the issues being sorted out this week include safeguarding the medical marijuana supply in the face of what's expected to be high retail demand.
