BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The New England Revolution will face the Colorado Rapids for their home opener Saturday afternoon in Foxboro.
Midfielder Scott Caldwell, who has been with the team since 2013, told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Adam Kaufman it's going to take everyone on the roster pushing one another to get the team to bounce back to a winning record.
"We have a lot of depth, and it's something we're going to need to use," he said. "Guys are going to have to push each other like we have been all through preseason, and we're just excited to get in front of our home fans this weekend to get back in our winning ways."
After missing the playoffs for the last few years, the team got a new coach--Brad Friedel. Caldwell said there's been an increased focus on fitness and playing style that he hopes fans will notice and get excited about.
"I think this year, we've come in with a little bit of a different mentality," Caldwell said. "Guys are refreshed. The competition among ourselves, within the team, is very high, which is great, and it will only push us to get better."
