BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Bruins have won all five games since Patrice Bergeron went down with an injury, and Brad Marchand's been a bit part of the success with five goals and four assists, not to mention three straight game-winners.
"I think we all have to carry the load a bit, I think we're all feeling that," Marchand said. "It's very hard missing a guy like him, and McAvoy not back for a few games. It's tough to replace him. I think we all feel that a bit, and have to step up."
Coach Bruce Cassidy and teammates Tuukka Rask and Zdeno Chara can't say enough about Marchand.
""He seems like he's on a bit of a mission with Bergie out, that he wants to pick the team up and the offensive part of it, and he's done a good job for us," Head Coach Bruce Cassidy said.
"That overtime goal in the last game was pretty much all him," Rask said. "When you're hot, you're hot, that's what we say. You seem to find those loose pucks, definitely he's a battler and he never quits on a play, so it's good that he gets rewarded for it."
"He competes, he works hard," Chara said. "When he doesn't have a puck, he works to get it back. When he has it, he works to keep it, and makes things happen. He battles, and he plays his style. He's on the edge, and he wants to make a difference every shift."
Marchand leads Boston with 29 goals and 67 points in 52 games.
The B's will host the Blackhawks Saturday.
