BOSTON, MA (24/7 News Source) -- Acting state Senate President Harriette Chandler is planning to serve out the remainder of the year as head of the chamber.
However, the woman who says she has the votes to become the next president is not endorsing that timeline.
Ashford Senator Karen Spilka says she wants to discuss a respectful and smooth transition with other senators.
Chandler says now is not the time to transfer any power, and she hopes to make the transfer at the end of the current term in December.
