Student sentenced For Fraudulently Obtaining Visa

BOSTON (AP) - A Chinese national has been sentenced for fraudulently obtaining a student visa.

Leyi Huang,21, pleaded guilty for one count of conspiracy to defraud the Department of Homeland Security in its administration of a student visa program.

U.S. District Court Judge F. Dennis Taylor sentenced Huang to time served and ordered her to be immediately deported to China.

In 2016, Huang had someone else take a Test of English as a Foreign Language exam under her identity after failing previous attempts to pass.

She then used the score to get into an American university.

Huang and three other Chinese nationals were arrested and charged for their roles in the college admissions exam scam in May 2017.
