BROCKTON, MA (WBZ-AM) – From Firefighter to amateur PGA rock star, Matt Parziale of Brockton, Mass, has become the toast of the nation and the masters in Augusta Georgia.

Scores of Baystaters have made the trip to the Masters Golf Championship this week to see him tee it up with the world's best at the masters.

It may have seen difficult to believe that Parziale would be the biggest story in golf only a year ago, the amateur is a smash hit which thrilled the folks at his home course in Brockton.

“It's a privilege to be a part of it's very exciting you know and being here at a private club and Brockton which you know has no shortage of down times to have a positive feel good story,”said Chris Baron General Manager of the Brockton Country Club.

Baron tells WBZ NewsRadio1030’s Chris Fama that the locals have taken to calling Parziale  “Hollywood.”

While they might joke on Parizale’s sudden popularity they do because they care and they know this is all a very big deal.

“It's just a really exciting thing to be a part of very proud to be a part of I know the club is in the city is they really should be and they are,” Baron said.
