BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Red Sox will open the home portion of their season Thursday afternoon at Fenway Park against the Rays--and here's hoping Xander Bogaerts is as good as he's been on the road.

The shortstop is batting .357 with a .653 slugging percentage, a major-league leading five doubles, a homer, and 2 RBI after his first six games.

Four of them came in Tampa--including all those  extra base hits, a .471 average and an OPS pushing 1,500.

Bogaerts followed a 2016 All-Star campaign with a down year last season. His offensive production was below average--but he told WBZ's Johnny Miller he has high expectations for himself.

Heck, at 25, the sky's the limit.

"My best baseball hasn't even been played yet," Bogaerts said. "I'm pretty confident in that, and I'm looking forward to a big season. I've had some good ones, but I'm really looking forward to this one, doing some special things for this team."

If Bogaerts' first week is any indication, it's going to be a fun year.
